WRRN sixth Anniversary celebration-Role of Youth in Climate Justice

7

On 3 April 2026 at Alfa House, Baneshwor, the Women Rights and Resources Network (WRRN) organized an inter-dialogue interaction on “Role of Youth in Climate Justice” to mark its sixth anniversary, drawing over sixty participants from government, academia, civil society, youth groups and community forestry stakeholders. Hosted by WRRN General Secretary Ms. Anjana Nepali and inaugurated by Hon. Apsara Chapagain, Deputy Speaker of Bagmati Province, the event highlighted WRRN’s vision, mission and project achievements (over 10 completed and two ongoing projects) presented by Ms. Binita Karki (Program Officer of WRRN), while centering youth engagement in research, advocacy and community action. Key achievements included high-level endorsement from provincial leaders who offered institutional platforms for youth inputs into policy, strong youth representation that underscored their role in fieldwork and green-economy solutions, and multi-stakeholder knowledge exchange on Nepal’s NDCs, climate finance, loss and damage, and the role of indigenous forest products in biodiversity conservation. Panel discussions and reflections strengthened links between local knowledge and modern technology, emphasized climate justice as inseparable from human rights, and generated momentum for greater youth participation in community and private forest governance, COP-level engagement, and practical, youth-led initiatives that can be translated into policy and pilot actions.
