Forest, Food and Peace Dialogue

On International Day of Forest 2025, Green Foundation Nepal and its partners brought together people from all walks of life to have an open and heartfelt conversation about how forests, food, and peace are deeply connected. The event shone a light on how forests not only provide us with food and livelihoods but also help communities stay strong and resilient in the face of climate change. Everyone agreed that protecting our forests while supporting local people’s needs and opportunities is key to building a healthier, more peaceful future.

Key Achievement

This gathering helped everyone better understand how forests contribute to our daily food and income, especially through wild fruits and other natural resources many depend on. It opened up honest discussions about how current forest rules can sometimes hold communities back, calling for changes that include and empower those who live closest to the forests. By honoring both traditional wisdom and modern science, the dialogue encouraged smarter ways to care for our forests. The event also brought together government, communities, and businesses to work hand in hand on tackling climate challenges and building stronger ecosystems. Most importantly, it inspired a shared promise to protect forests as a source of well-being, fairness, and lasting progress for all.
